Christina Pushaw works as a professional political aide in the United States. Pushaw grew interested in Georgia after hearing presidential candidate John McCain describe it in the Transcaucasus in 2008.
She made her first trip there after graduating from USC. Pushaw established the New Leaders Initiative, a non-governmental organization that arranged events for Georgians interested in “democracy and international affairs.” From June 2017 through July 2019, Pushaw worked for the Stand Together organization in Washington, D.C. She worked for Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia’s former president, from 2018 until 2020 while living in Tbilisi.
Pushaw registered as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act in June 2022 after being approached by the US Department of Justice. From May 2021 to August 2022, Pushaw worked as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ press secretary before joining his campaign staff as the fast response director.
Twitter suspended Pushaw after she “tweeted” about an Associated Press report in 2021. Pushaw, DeSantis’ press secretary, ordered supporters to “drag them” and threatened to “put the AP reporter on blast.” The A.P. claims Pushaw “directly attempted to mobilize an online mob to attack a journalist.” Pushaw claimed that she did not believe her tweet prompted the A.P. to make violent threats.
