He later enrolled at Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in microbiology in 2000. He then went on to Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he completed his studies in 2008 and received his medical degree. In 2013, William Husel began working as an intensive-care physician at Columbus, Ohio’s Mount Carmel West Hospital after completing his medical school. He put all of his effort into his work and was praised for being extremely intelligent. He started giving his patients exceptionally large doses of fentanyl just two years later, in 2015.
Alleged Murders
On February 10, 2015, a patient was allegedly given 400 micrograms of fentanyl, which is when his first alleged murder is said to have started. 34 people had passed away in the past two and a half years, and the majority of them received standard palliative fentanyl dosages before they passed away. The hospital at the time said he was responsible for all 14 fatalities. Even though the hospital got the formal report in October, it wasn’t investigated until Rebecca Walls her away on November 19 as a result of an excessively high fentanyl dosage.
He was promptly relieved of his patient care responsibilities on November 2 and sacked on December 5, 2018. Husel surrendered on June 5, 2019, after his license was revoked and he was charged with 25 charges of murder. The case went to trial on February 22, 2022. Husel was declared not guilty of all counts by the jury on April 20, 2022, two months after the trial’s start.
