With 2,140 yards gained on the ground, Willard also set a Canadian Football League record. As the CFL’s most valuable player, he was chosen. He contributed to his team’s 72nd Grey Cup triumph, their first since 1962, as well. He was involved in a contract dispute with the Bombers in 1988, and they asked for a significant pay cut from Reaves.
Undrafted at the time, he was released and tried out for the NFL. In 1989, he played in two games for the Miami Dolphins and one for the Washington Redskins. After his professional athletic career came to an end, he started his own little business, an investigation firm that employed over twenty people. Additionally, he spent approximately 18 years as a sergeant in the Manitoba Sheriff’s Department.
