He revealed on August 6, 2013, that 10 PC Mild, his second mixtape, would be released on August 13. After going months without releasing any new music, James announced that he was leaving Def Jam on August 1, 2014.
Additionally, he said that he had “no money,” and that instead of releasing his album through the label, he would make it freely available. He also said that the producers and rappers who worked on the project shouldn’t expect payment because he had “no money.”
In April 2016, James released the song “Just a Lil’ Thick” with Mystikal and Lil Dicky. through December 31, 2016, James published “The Wake Up 2,” a mixtape, through mixtape websites and streaming services like Spotify. As of 2018, James hosted the YouTube discussion program Full Size Run and starred in the Safdie Brothers’ movie Uncut Gems.
