After leaving Nightline Ted entered into a three-year partnership with Discovery Communications. There he was hired as a managing editor of the Discovery Channel. While still at Discovery, Ted produced several lengthy documentaries on a variety of subjects including a 2008 four-hour miniseries on China. He ranks the 2008 China documentary as one of his most proud works over the years”.
He also produced a four-part documentary famously known as the “People’s Republic of Capitalism.” The documentary is an extensive look at the fast-changing country. It is a review of the role of Chinese consumers in the growing yet communist economy. Ted’s partnership with Discovery Communications came to a halt in November 2008, after he terminated the contract six months early.
