In a setback that left him sidelined, Steve Stricker experienced a mysterious illness towards the end of last year, later diagnosed as pericarditis and an irregular heartbeat.
Following hospitalization for nearly two weeks, Stricker made an impressive return to the PGA Tour Champions at the Insperity Invitational in April, tying for second place.
Since then, he has displayed remarkable resilience, accumulating nine top-10 finishes in 11 starts and earning over $2 million in prize money.
Notably, one of his three victories came in a major tournament, the Regions Tradition.
Despite medical professionals being unable to identify the exact cause, Stricker endured challenges, including inflammation around his heart, irregular heart rhythm, and liver issues.
With his characteristic humor, he even jestingly compared his weight loss of 25 pounds to fellow golfer Justin Thomas.
Stricker’s determination and recovery have been commendable, highlighting his strength and passion for the game.
