Despite earning a substantial salary, Lewis Hamilton is not the highest-paid Formula One driver. In 2023, Max Verstappen was reported to have earned $70 million, making him the top earner in F1. However, Hamilton’s salary breakdown shows that he receives a higher basic salary than Verstappen, but he may not earn as much in bonuses, depending on his performance.
| Driver | Salary (2023) | Basic Salary | Bonuses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lewis Hamilton | $55 million | $45 million | Varies based on performance |
| Max Verstappen | $70 million | $38 million | Higher performance-based bonuses |
| Other F1 Drivers | Varies | Varies | Depends on individual contracts and performance |
