Sade’s dating life was first publicized in 1980, when she was living with Robert Elms in a live-in relationship, and again in 1989, when she married Spaniard film director Carlos Pliego, a relationship that lasted until 1995. She subsequently relocated to the Caribbean for a brief time to live with Jamaican music producer Bob Morgan, where she gave birth to her only child, Mackaila Ila Adu, on July 21, 1996.
Mackaila Ila Adu later came out as a transgender male on National Coming Out Day, and later changed his name to Izaac Theo Adu. He is also recognized for publicly acknowledging his mother’s support during his transition. She is now married to Ian Watts, and the two of them have two children from previous relationships.
