Before joining Georgetown University, Shapiro was a chief editor of the Cato Supreme Court Review, and senior fellow in constitutional studies for the Cato Institute. While working there, he has made contributions to academic, professional, and popular publications such as USA Today, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, National Review Online, Weekend Standard, Wall Street Journal, and Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy.
He often provides regular analysis for various media outlets such as CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox News, NBC, and NPR. Shapiro has attested before Congress and state legislatures and also as a coordinator for Cato’s amicus brief program. he has also filed at least 200 “friend of the court” briefs in the Supreme Court such as The Green Bag which earned the selection of the ” Exemplary Legal Writing” collection.
Shapiro also teaches often on the behalf of the Federalist Society. Furthermore, he has also been an adjunct professor for the George Washington University Law School. Shapiro is also a member of the Legal Studies Institute’s board of visitors at The Fund for American Studies.
Additionally, he has also served as a clerk for Judge E. Grady Jolly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit before joining the private practice.
