She was born in Texas as Pency Straight, the third child of Doris Jean Couser and John Byron Strait Sr.She grew raised with her brothers, George and John Strait Jr. until her parents split. Mr. Strait later married his second wife, Pence’s stepmother, Anna Strait.
Pence was raised by her mother, while her brothers were raised by her father, a mathematics teacher at a junior high school in Texas. Her father died in June 2013, and her mother died in January 2010.
Following the death of John Strait Sr., the Pency family issued a public statement thanking their loved ones for their support and prayers. The funeral was held in the presence of only their close family and friends. Pence’s adored brother, John, too died in 2009, leaving the world before their parents.
