She joined WFMZ-TV, 69 News Team in October 2011 serving as an anchor and reporter. Melanie anchors the station’s newscasts every afternoon at 4:00 p.m and the medical report, Health Beat during the 5:00 p.m. news every evening. Before joining WFMZ-TV, she served as a morning anchor and reporter for more than three years at KNDU in the Tri-Cities, Washington. Melanie was raised in North Carolina and later relocated to Boston where she enrolled at Emerson College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.
In addition, Melanie has undergone and survived two open-heart surgeries. As a result, she is an advocate for heart health. Melanie currently works hand in hand with the American Heart Association to spread awareness concerning heart screenings as well as the signs and symptoms of heart disease. When she is not busy at work, she likes spending time with her husband, her two boys, and also her dog. Besides that, Melanie also loves trying new restaurants, running, yoga, and trying to cook.
