Matty Beniers is a professional ice hockey player from Hingham, Massachusetts. He is of Caucasian descent and of American nationality. He has played for three Team USA teams, a Frozen Four season with the University of Michigan, and double-digit games with the Seattle Kraken in the last year.
The ice hockey player is considered one of the top prospects for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. In the NHL Central Scouting final draft rankings, Matty was ranked fourth among North American skaters. Before joining the Michigan Wolverines, Beniers was a part of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) from 2018 to 2020.
He represented the NTDP in the USHL and international events, winning gold medals at the 2019 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2021 U20 World Junior Championship. Beniers had a good first season with the Michigan Wolverines, scoring 10 goals and recording 24 points in 24 games. He was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and was a candidate for Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
