Kevin Compton is an entrepreneur and successful venture investor who has made important contributions to the technology sector. After finishing his computer science studies, Compton worked as a software engineer at Hewlett-Packard and then at NeXT, a computer firm created by Steve Jobs.
Compton co-founded the venture capital company Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) in 1992, where he specialized in early-stage investments in technology firms.
He is also well-known for his contributions to the creation of numerous successful technological firms, notably Grand Junction Networks, a networking equipment company, and Splunk, an enterprise software company.
Compton is a philanthropist who has funded several charities and non-profit groups focused on education, healthcare, and the arts in addition to his work as a venture investor and entrepreneur. He presently serves on the boards of various firms and organizations, including Stanford University, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Computer History Museum.
