Maria got married to her husband German Perez on July 20, 1991. German is a Dominican-born visual artist who has held 28 personal exhibitions in places like New York, Brazil, Panama, and Los Angeles. Furthermore, her husband’s work has been selected in both public and private collections.
Additionally, her husband German has also worked on Vuelta Africa which is a selection seeking to celebrate the African heritage of the Caribbean people, especially of the Dominican Republic. Maria and her husband are residents of Harlem, New York, The duo are proud parents of a daughter, Yurema, and a son, Raul.
