Some people interpreted Dave’s remark about gender fluidity as “It was a knife that identified as a gun,” which is supposedly what he said. Fair enough, I guess.
It appears that after garnering some laughter, he continued and added—not that there’s anything wrong with that—about a few audience members he suspected might be gay. All of it seems to have been uttered, although it has raised some controversy.
It does seem like Dave is obsessed with making jokes about transgender issues. He did this when performing at the Hollywood Bowl a few weeks ago, and after the accused attacker, Isaiah Lee, had been tackled, he even made a joke about him, calling him a “trans man.”
