In 2019, Jessie Mei Li made her theatrical debut alongside Gillian Anderson in the West End production of All About Eve as Claudia Casswell. Together, The Smoke marked her television debut. After that, she played Christian Jocko in Locked Up Abroad and Kiera in the short film Travelooper. In the upcoming psychological horror-thriller Last Night in Soho, directed by Edgar Wright, Li portrays Lara Chung. The film will be released in October 2021 and stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin Harcourt.
Jessie was cast as Alina Starkov, the lead in the upcoming Netflix series Shadow and Bone, an adaptation of the fantasy book series Shadow and Bone and the Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, in October 2019. Season one launched on Netflix on April 23, 2021. Li also participated in Uri Sade’s “A Thousand Ringing Bells” music video and James Humphrys’ “Three Weeks” music video in 2021. Jessie is already hard at work on her next projects, including Ericka in the short film Pork Scratchings and Kukeri, which is currently in post-production. The release dates for both of the projects have yet to be announced.
