Horace is a basketball player in his personal life. He also helped form West Virginia’s college fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, during their undergraduate years. In the same way, Horace was chosen by the Chicago Bulls as the 10th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft.
He joined forces with fellow draft-day recruit Scottie Pippen to form a forward combination and eventually became the Bulls’ center/forward. Similar to 1988, when he replaced Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan as the Bulls’ key rebounder, he also established himself as the team’s third scoring option. This triumvirate quickly established itself as one of the league’s best.
Due to his defensive play, he was four times chosen to the NBA All-Defensive team. He also helped Chicago win three consecutive NBA titles in 1991, 1992, and 19993.
Similar to Horace, who started wearing eyeglasses and started using prescription goggles on the field despite being nearsighted.
Additionally, the goggles he wore came to represent him. He quickly started wearing goggles on the court despite having LASIK surgery after hearing from his parents that he was an example to kids who wear glasses.
