Hayes Brown began his professional career in May 2007 as a research intern with Walling for Mayor. He finished his internship in August 2007 and was assigned to manage policy statements as well as various other local issues. Later, from May to August 2008, he completed a four-month internship at the United Nations Association.

He participated in numerous talks, including the 2009 UNA-USA Model United Nations Conference. Also he assisted in the editing of several policy briefs on security and human rights problems.

He then moved to Washington, D.C., to work as an administrative consultant for HireStrategy. While in Washington, D.C., he received a burial at the United Nations Foundation. Furthermore, he continued to work on his internship during the first four months of 2011 (January through April). He continues to work as a freelance writer between 2011 and 2012.

He has worked as a blogger and writer for Water Edge, as a cyber policy analyst for Arlington, VA, as a full-time podcast host and reporter and editor for BuzzFeed, and as a full-time daily columnist for MSNBC. Furthermore, he rose to prominence as a result of his six-year tenure at BuzzFeed News. At the time, he was the deputy world news editor.

Before joining BuzzFeed, Hayes worked as the World Editor for ThinkProgress. He has worked on the world desk with a range of correspondents from throughout the world. While working for numerous international companies, he used his spare time to create articles in which he described many correspondent works and the Greek debt issue via “Grease.”
