Kim Schmid, a Vietnamese refugee of Chinese ancestry who was one of her parents’ nine children, was married to Winston. He first met his future wife in 1975, when she arrived in America as a Vietnamese refugee.
After graduating from college and moving to Oklahoma, the couple was married. But their union was destined to collapse. Olivia’s parents divorced when she was just two years old.
