Given how secretive the monarchy is about its money, it is challenging to determine Prince William’s exact net worth. However, Celebrity Net Worth estimates to be in the neighborhood of $100 million.
The majority of the Queen Mother’s estimated $89 million fortune was placed in a trust fund for her great-grandchildren, William and Harry, in 1994, the BBC reported at the time of her death. She passed away in 2002.
The network stated in 2002 that “Princes William and Harry will divide roughly £14 million from the estate of their late great grandmother.”
That amounts to around $17,9 million. Since William will gain monetarily from becoming king, the younger brother will receive most of the money.
The annual Sovereign Grant, which is paid for by British tax dollars, is given to William and all other royals to assist “their official obligations, such as receptions and garden parties, and to cover ongoing expenditures, such as for royal travel and building maintenance.”
The payment is estimated as a percentage of the income from the Crown Estate, a holding of real estate, and other assets with a combined market worth of £15.2 billion (about $17.3 billion).
In a system that was put in place in 2012, funding for the Sovereign Grant was initially restricted to 15% of the Crown Estate’s earnings.
The Royal Household will be subject to the same audit scrutiny as another government spending under the new system through the National Audit Office and the Public Accounts Committee.
