Darren was born on August 1, 1977, in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. There is virtually little information available about Darren’s childhood and family. He is of Jewish origin and grew up in Raleigh with two brothers. Sugg grew enamored with video games at an early age, which led him to decide to seek a career in the gaming industry. He enrolled at Marist College after graduating from high school to pursue a degree in communication and multimedia.
Marist College, located in Poughkeepsie, New York, is a liberal arts college. The Marist Brothers, a Catholic religious order, created it in 1905. It was eventually accredited by the state and began giving other degrees; they include courses on liberal arts education, sciences, and many others, with a total of 56-degree programs. The 180-acre facility overlooks the Hudson River. It also includes a branch campus in Florence, Italy, as well as study locations in 26 different countries. The school is also a Division I member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
