While Cheryl’s career as an actor was off to a bright start, she wanted to finish her studies and graduate from high school which she did in 1971. She then went off to California State University, Northridge, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in geriatric psychology in 1975. Cheryl furthered her education and wrapped things up with a Master of Fine Arts degree in screenwriting in 1977.

After finishing the academic side of things, Cheryl made an uncredited appearance as The Reporter in Brown Hat in Ron’s newest comedy flick, Grand Theft Auto. Over the years, Cheryl not only assisted Ron by filling several acting roles but also helped him co-write and co-produce movies. In 1980, Chery co-produced the movie Skyward alongside Ron and went on to make the briefest of appearances in the movie Night Shift. Cheryl’s next appearance was in the movie Splash and was followed by another short appearance in the 1988 movie, Willow.

Since her early years, Cheryl has been a staple part of Ron’s films and can be seen taking on the smallest of roles in movies like The Paper (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), EDtv (1999), Ron Howard: Hollywood’s Favorite Son, A Beautiful Mind (2001), The View (2005), Charlie Rose (2005), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and Arrested Development (2016).

In addition to her acting career, Cheryl is a published author. She wrote her debut novel, In the Face of Jinn in 2005 under the publication St. Martin’s Press. The story follows two American sisters as they travel to India on business, only for one sister to mysteriously disappear.
