After graduating from high school, he began working as an electrician right away. Following graduating, he put his attention into his work and released his debut memoir in 2004. The autobiography, titled Another Bullshit Night in the Suck City, shot to prominence as a New York Times best-seller.
Following that, he carried on writing, producing a number of highly regarded works, including The Reenactments and The Ticking is the Bomb: A Memoir. 2010 and 2013, respectively, saw the release of this memoir.
This is the Night Our House Will Catch Fire in 2020 is his most recent memoir to be published. The Day Lou Reed Died and Cartoons of Physics are two of his penned poems.
