He made his directorial debut in the short film Icarus. Following this, he went on to direct a number of films and television shows, including 660124: The Story of an IBM Card, The Responsive Eye, Murder à la Mod, The Wedding Party, Get to Know Your Rabbit, Phantom of the Paradise, Home Movies, and The Wedding Party. Bruce Springsteen’s films include Domino, Dancing in the Dark, The Bonfire of the Vanities, Mission: Impossible, and The Complete Video Anthology 1978–2000.
He further contributed writing to the films Catch and Kill, Femme Fatale, Dressed to Kill, Phantom of the Paradise, The Wedding Party, and Murder à la Mod.
In addition to all of this, he also worked as an actor in films including Greetings, The Great O’Grady, Rotwang muß weg!, and The Black Dahlia.
