Artie Lange was recently arrested for violating the terms of his probation program at Freedom House, a halfway house and addiction treatment center in Clinton, New Jersey, on May 21, 2019. Lange had previously been in police custody, having been detained in 2017 on three counts of possessing heroin, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia in his car and on himself.

Lange was also sentenced to four years of probation on June 1, 2018. After violating his four-year probation, he entered inpatient rehabilitation in November 2018. He would leave rehab on occasion to do stand-up comedy. He was arrested for having a controlled drug in his possession. He then entered a treatment facility. He also completed court-ordered community service, including as working as a trash collector and at a gas station.

In May of this year, he was detained again for breaking the terms of his probation. This time he was imprisoned for 21 days. He then enrolled in a new inpatient treatment program. He is due back in court in New Jersey, where he could face a jail sentence.

In September 2019, Lange declared that he had completed rehab and had been sober for almost seven months.
