Arly Lariviere was born on August 22, 1972, in Cap-Hatien, Haiti, to parents of African descent. He grew up and attended school in Cap-Hatien, Haiti. Daniel Lariviere, Arly Lariviere’s father, was the lead singer and composer for the legendary Haitian band Tropicana D’Haiti.

Arly is the second oldest of five children, three of whom are boys and two of whom are girls. He grew up hearing his father perform in Tropicana. He and other friends formed Lakol D’Haiti, a very successful young band in Cap-Haitien, when he was very young.

Later in the 1990s, he relocated to Florida, USA, to pursue music. In addition, he is Haitian and of Black ethnicity. Furthermore, he is a Leo and practices Vodou, a creolized religion that is mostly practiced in Haiti and Western African countries.
