Woodrow Tracy Harrelson, known as Woody Harrelson, was born on 1961, during the month of July in Midland, Texas.
His parents were Diane Lou Oswald, a secretary and Charles Voyde Harrelson, a convicted hitman. He grew up in a Presbyterian household alongside his two brothers, Jordan and Brett, who also pursued a career in acting.
However, their father, Charles, was absent for much of their childhood, and he was ultimately sentenced to life in prison for the murder of federal judge John H. Wood Jr. in 1979.
Charles passed away on March 15, 2007, at the United States Penitentiary while serving his sentence.
From a financially disadvantaged background, Harrelson’s family relied heavily on his mother’s earnings.
He attended The Briarwood School before relocating to Lebanon, Ohio, in 1973, his mother’s hometown.
In Lebanon, he enrolled at Lebanon High School and successfully graduated in 1979. That summer, Harrelson worked at the Kings Island amusement park, gaining valuable life experiences and broadening his horizons.
