Albert Prince Consort was born in Germany on August 26, 1819. Prince Consort who married Queen Victoria, his first cousin, in 1840. He was instrumental in the organization of the Great Exhibition of 1851 and was actively involved in a number of progressive causes, including the abolition of slavery. One of his children was Edward VII, who served as the King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions as well as the Emperor of India. He and his brother studied under mathematician and astronomer Adolphe Quetelet. He later studied at the University of Bonn, where he developed an interest in music and fencing.
